Blockheads 3 - Week 53

This charming block is courtesy of Robin Pickens. You can find the directions HERE.

Are you thinking about how you will put all these Blockhead 3 blocks together?  I can't wait to see how everyone puts their quilt together.  I hope you all have hand work for these cold dark months (also for those warm, sunny months if you live in the lower hemisphere).  There will be some applique in my future, along with some hand quilting. If you love applique...... these kits were added to the etsy shop yesterday...

You can find the kits HERE.

Hi Laurie,
Can you please tell me what you used for your applique background? I love the look of that soft blue.
Thanks so much!

@Pam P

On my version of the quilt the blue background behind the applique was a light blue pinstripe from Grand Traverse Bay. Sadly, it is not out of print.

LOVE that Hartfield quilt and was hoping to be able to get a kit! And, I did! :-) It's such a happy quilt...looking forward to all that applique...I'll probably even hand quilt it too. Thanks for taking the time to package up kits for us....leaves us with no excuses to not start stitching right away! ;-)

Hi Laurie. I love your fabric lines! And also can not wait to see your Blockheads 3 quilt. I have a question that I hope you can answer. I starched (I do the spray it until soaked and hang to dry method) some gray on black Moda crossweave and as it dripped dry the drips were red (and quite a bit) and the fabric dried to have a purple tint and lost it pretty silver gray look. I see that you use the crossweave and I think you starch too. Have you had this issue with the Moda crossweave? Thanks, Rene'

Hi, I was unable to figure out another way to communicate with you so I’m going to try here.

I recently bought your Mackinac island quilt kit (finished size 68“ x 76“) from old South fabrics. But when I opened it up, the pattern is only for 63“ x 71“. The problem appears to be that the border fabric produced has much larger stars than the border fabric assumed when the quilt kit was put together and marketed. So Moda decided to just knock the size of the quilt kit down by five inches on each side.

Certainly you must know about this.

This is unfortunately since I feel like I was ripped up. I am going to take it up with Moda and with the seller, but it is very annoying that your kits are being marketed at one size, and sent out at another size.

Do you know any way I can increase the size of the border rather than just buying more border fabric?

Thank you.

@KW

email me at lauriesimpson92@gmail.com. I don't have access to your email to answer you. The HONOR kit was always meant to be 63" x 71" and the pattern was designed that way. Sorry for the confusion over this.
