Blockheads 3 - Week 20

This week's block is courtesy of Lisa Bongean

You might have noticed the unusual fabric pick on my cutting table underneath this week's block.  It's my new long term project and it will have Jen Kingwell's new line - Winkipop, Christopher Wilson Tate's Regency Zarafa, Ruby Star's Warp Weft Wovens, some Jen Kingwell basics, and some shot cottons.  Whew!  I'm emphasizing LONG TERM and it will be hand pieced and English Paper Pieced. Oh, and I'm still waiting on fabrics that I've ordered to fit in.  Why use 100 fabrics when 200 might be better?

When I opened up the Warp Weft Woven bundle with lots of yummy wovens in many different weights - I saved the four heavy linen pieces (with that wonderfully yellow wonky salvage) and hemmed them for new dinner napkins.
Most of the rest of the bundle will be in the fabric pick above... It's good, every once in awhile, to do something a little unexpected.

The exact plans for this quilt..... well, they are still up in the air.

Of course, I do love some RED, WHITE and BLUE and many of those quilts went up on walls this week.

Notice that Gibby has made a pile of his favorite pillows on the end of the sofa. :) This quilt, called Picnic is in the Mix It Up book by the Moda All-Stars.

Blockheads 3 - Week 19

One thing you can say about the Shelter In Place situation - things have been crossed off the eternal "To-Do" list.  All of my scheduled projects have been done - or are in the correct stages of being done and some even long, long WIP's have been tackled.  I even have an idea germinating for another long term handwork project.

But, you're here for the next installment of Blockheads 3. This week's block is courtesy of Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic.  You can find the pattern HERE.

We changed up all the quilts hanging in the house too. I went for light, breezy colors for summer - or until I feel the need to change things up again.  The new ModaVillage quilt is now hanging in our hallway. Cassie approves.

Blockheads 3 - Week 18

Today's block is courtesy of Jan Patek and you can find it HERE. I changed the block a bit - since I am doing the 6" block - I just eliminated some of the elements.

In other news, I finished hand quilting the Trip Around the World Quilt and I got back the Moda Villages quilt from Maggi Honeyman - who long arm quilted it for me. Everybody, including Gibby and Cassie like them.

Blockheads 3 - Week 17

This is week 17 of Blockheads 3.  Betsy Chutchian has this little gem for us......
You can find the directions HERE

I hope you are all getting along well and your families are healthy. We are good.

Like everyone else, I mix in some mask making in between other sewing.  I have made 4 versions of masks. Each one has their assets and debits. I found this tutorial makes masks quite quickly and I like how they fit.

In other news, I got my Trip Around The World quilt back from being basted and I'm now hand quilting it.

I'm quilting with a big stitch and the thread is Aurifil 12wt. The needle is a John James milliner size 11.  This is going quite fast and I expect to be finished this weekend.

Lastly, the new patterns that feature the Harbor Springs fabric collection are in stock in the Etsy shop. Both downloads and paper patterns.

When the fabric ships later this summer I will have kits for both of these quilts.
