Blockheads 3 - Week 7

Oy!  Things are busy here.....

This is my week 7 block

I did finish my orange and blue quilt top.  Big Stitch hand quilting will start on it - once I have 3 other projects finished.  Yes, I'm just like other quilters........

Blockheads 3 - Week 6

Did you see where I was inspired by another Moda designer this week?  Joanna of Fig Tree Quilts
posted a fabric bundle that she is offering.  It had Fig Tree oranges, and blues and creams from Primitive Gatherings and Minick and Simpson.  I immediately got my hands on some of the oranges and went through my stash for blues and creams (that was the easy part).

I hope to finish this soon.  I better, as NEW fabric is winging its way to me.  Just in time for some top secret projects.  

What else is new? Well, Cassie has doubled her weight in the 2 weeks she has been here. She is thriving. Potty training is going very well, she is a first class snuggler, and she has very, very slowly wormed her way into Gibby's heart. Gibby still has his moments though.  He is happy to play with her in the yard. He tolerates her all day in the house, but he is done with her once it is time to slow down at the end of the day. She is relentless :)

Blockheads 3 - Week 5

I hope you will have a nice Valentine's day with family and friends.  What will we do here in casa Simpson?  We are not going out. One reason is we didn't make reservations anywhere and you just can't pop into restaurants on Valentine's day without one. Second, Cassie the puppy hasn't been left alone yet. She has had either both of us - or one of us with her.  So far, our only challenge hasn't been potty training, or sleeping at night - but being alone.  If one of us isn't in the room with her - she cries most piteously.  We are pushovers for crying puppies.  Correcting this will be on the top of our list when we go to puppy classes.

The sets of 4 are going very fast. I will probably run out of stock today, but I'm sure you can find some more at anywhere fine quilting supplies are sold :)

BLOCKHEADS 3 - Week 4

Handwork is my preferred way to make quilts. I can strip piece with the best of 'em, but handwork is my thing.  I am so happy to make this week's block - by Jan Patek

I'm a few weeks ahead of you all and I'm happy to tell you that you will love all of these blocks together. It's going to be a fun Blockheads 3 year.

It's especially good that I'm a few weeks ahead as it's a bit crazy here - and about to get crazier. A new line of fabric is being readied to be made into quilts and if that wasn't enough...... this happened ....

This is Bill with the newest addition to the Simpson family - Cassie.  She was a bit of a surprise. Bill called me last week saying he was at the Humane Society?!?!?!  Uh, I knew he couldn't go there and come home empty handed. He didn't.

Cassie is a bit of a mystery. Little is known of her heritage. Best guesstimate is there is some bull dog in there. Her front legs bow out kind of like this......... a trip to the vet today.... and the vet believes she is mostly American Bulldog and Boxer. 

Whatever else is in there is all adorable. Bill was smitten immediately and I didn't take much longer to fall.  Gibby has been a little hesitant to love her, but everyday he is more tolerant of the puppy shenanigans.  This morning there was even a play and chase in the backyard.

We're anxious to hear about how big she might get.  She loves to rest in our laps.  I hope she won't get so big where that isn't feasible.  

Oh, and just one more thing.... we adopted her from the Huron Valley Humane Society here in Ann Arbor. They have a first class operation and it was so heartening to see that have so much success in placing animals. This picture was taken last week and so far they had placed 339 pets in happy homes in 2020.
