It's been too long, folks. I'm sorry for being tardy. Things have happened and I'll show you all the news.
First of all, my pal Leigh Ann and I collaborated on making a purse. I was admiring boro bags online and thought (with the help of Leigh Ann) we could make one. We did! Don't ask about a pattern - since we completely WINGED IT. Like I said - I made the 2 panels and they are sewn to an oval bottom and Leigh Ann added the lining, pockets and hardware. The bag construction part is all above my pay grade :) I'm sure there are many bag patterns that could be adapted to this technique.
The outside panels were hand quilted by me (basically mini quilts) and then handed over to Leigh Ann to turn into a purse. I used antique fabric scraps and Minick and Simpson scraps.
She does beautiful work and I'm over the moon with it. It is my summer purse and I love it!
In other WHOO-HOO news..... our next fabric collection has started to be shown to shop owners. I received some sample yardage to make ALL the quilts. I am over the moon with this too. This group is called Mackinac Island.
You will notice it is the usual Red, White, and Blue of Minick and Simpson with some added pink. Do you like it as much as I do?
As for the quilts........ I have designed a quilt that fits all the requirements for a Quilt of Valor. I was so happy to participate in this project. This will be a boxed kit offered through Moda Fabrics and it - and all the yardage will be in your favorite quilt shops in January 2020.
Last, but not least is a new BOM. This is Derby House. Derby House has 5 applique blocks and the rest is easy piecing. Yes, easy. It looks complicated, but it isn't. The piecing is all 4 patches, 9 patches, HST's, log cabin blocks, and such. Easy peasy. Granted, it is a lot of piecing - but it's simple. Once you get all the blocks made - they are then sewn together in 9 vertical rows. SIMPLE.
This will be a 10 month Block Of The Month and I hope to start it in December/January. There will be lots of warning for the sign ups. I will be able to do a few here in my Etsy shop. Many other shops will offer it also.
Whew! I think that's it for now.....
Laters,
Laurie

Hi Laurie. I love your bag. Especially the pockets on the inside !! How exactly do BOM clubs work ? Thanks, Pam Tasker
@PamTasker
It's not a club. At least I won't be having a club. It's just a Block of the Month. Once I put it up in the Etsy shop in December - you purchase it and your credit card will be billed monthly for 10 months. I'm sure most shops will do it that way - bill you monthly and mail out or make available - each month's kit. You will receive 10 small kits for 10 months and then it will be over and you will have everything to put all the blocks together. That's it :)
Mackinac Island is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!
I love the new line. Each picture, as I scrolled down, made me more excited. I wish I didn't have to wait to begin to sew with it. I love the BOM too. You've really outdone yourself with this one!!!!
Beautiful new line of fabrics and what a lovely BOM ! I see that my friend Emma (who has a quilt shop in France called Le Patchwork d'Emma) is already offering it through her shop.
Beautiful -- as ALWAYS! Your fabrics are so gorgeous. I'm looking forward to seeing them in person.
as always love your fabrics...…..
Again you didn't disappoint. The fabrics are beautiful and I'll be in line to buy the boxed kit.....love it. Now I just have to wait for January to get here.
Missed your posts Laurie, welcome back. I love LOVE Mackinac Island fabrics - especially the Florals, stars, viney prints, plaids, dots, ok, all of it!!1 Always so nice to see your lines.
pretty fabrics. Wondering why it is called the Mackinac Collection. My husband has been yacht racing up there for over 20 years. I've visited many time too. Just curious.
@Barb
We have named over 20 collections or patterns after Michigan names or family names. Some of the fabric collections named with Michigan names are Mackinac Island, Charlevoix, Ann's Arbor, Northport. Some of the pattern names are Liberty Road, Chippewa Nine Patch, 3 Brothers Farm, Grand Haven, Harbor Springs, Miller Avenue, Martin Place, etc.. There are more and I suspect there will be more.
Love the new collection. That is one awesome bag Laurie check this place out https://www.textileswest.org/event-3085659
I am interested in the type of appliqué use for Derby House. What technique?
@Johanna
You can use any applique technique you choose. We have templates without seam allowance and you can add it if you do hand applique - or not add it if you choose machine applique. I always use needle turn as my choice of technique.

I have 1 pack of 5in. Charm squares of Mackinac Island. Any ideas for wallhanging for my 3 season room?
Thanks
Is there any chance you could make the BOM for Mackinac Island a downloadable pattern for each month? I have the "full collection" stack of fat quarters for the Mackinac Island but am struggling to find a nice bed quilt pattern for it at the moment. (Derby House is a bit too "busy" for the bedroom ;-)
