Lucky Week 13 of BLOCKHEADS 2

Pictorial piecing is what we have this week - a nifty flower made from squares and rectangles.

Corey Yoder is the designer du jour....... Here is her pattern.

This is my Bella Solid flower.....

And this is the Minick and Simpson flower.  See how my leaves are pointing in different directions? I TOTALLY meant to do that.  Yep!

Things are looking quite nice...

What else is going on??

The intrepid Moda Salesmen (and women!!) are showing our new fabric group to show owners.  This is Crystal Lake and they will be taking orders in September and October.  It will ship early in 2019.   I'll be showing you our new quilts in the next blog post.

BLOCKHEADS2 - Week 12

This must be the week for overachievers.  This week's block and what I'm going to show at the end of this post will confirm that.  This block is DARLING! It is also a bit fussy.  I loved how it looks, but I may have swore a couple of times making it.  Week 12 is from Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings and the directions are HERE.

This is in Minick and Simpson scraps.  Don't look too close. And you know what? Perfection is over-rated.
This is in Bella Solids - I love this one -  It's a keeper

 Here they are all grouped.....

What else is going on this week..... I finished a long term project.  This was my hand work in the evening all this spring and summer.  I found myself sketching one day and the next thing you know I had this to show for it.
I am calling this The Good Boy Quilt.... because of this.....
It's hard to see, but it's Gibby sitting on his ottoman with the words "Good Boy" stitched beside it.  There are all sorts of little critters in this.

As of right now - there are no plans to make this a pattern.  I have had lots of interest on Instagram for a pattern and I will try to seek out some options, but it's a real long shot.  The amount of time and money going into producing this pattern would make it too expensive for everyone involved, especially you the consumer, but...... you never know.

BLOCKHEADS 2 - Week 11

It's the dog days.  Has summer been great? I hope it has.  Being bottled up here in an air conditioned studio is luxury. Believe me, I count my blessings.  I had wanted to make a run to IKEA this week to pick up something - then I remembered BACK TO SCHOOL. IKEA on a quiet day makes my teeth itch - if there are back to school crowds I think I'll consider ordering online.  Wish me luck.

This is Sherri McConnell's block.  It's a keeper.  Here it is in the obligatory Minick and Simpson scraps.  You can get the directions HERE on her blog.

Here it is in Bella Solids.  You know the rest..... here they all are.........

I've been teasing my instagram followers with updates on this secret project.  This quilt is in the final homestretch.  It will be finished, bound, washed (oy, it needs it) and ready for her debut in about 10 days.  I'm at that stage where I'm getting pretty tired of it.  It is heartening that it is so close to the finish line.

This is where all of this nonsense comes from - my studio. It was once a "mother-in-law" apartment in the lower level of our home. The converted kitchen in this studio apartment is "the office". Where the computer is - the kitchen sink used to be. The sewing machine is in the place of the old stove and where the iron is - is where the refrigerator used to be.  All in all.... a much more fun place to be.  Yesterday I had the carpet steam cleaned and the Dog Days of summer don't smell like a dog anymore. Gibby says he's sorry. He can't help it if he sometimes smells like a dog.

Week 10 of BLOCKHEADS 2

How can it be week 10 already?

This week's block is courtesy of Jo MortonJo will show her block - back and front and you can see how she pressed the seams. They will be immaculate. I would show you how I pressed my seams, but it might demoralize a few of you.  How are they pressed? Whatever way seemed (heh) to be the less violent.  Some seams are pressed to the side, some are pressed open, some defy logic and do both.

You know the drill by now..... this is the block in Minick and Simpson scraps.

This is the block in Bella Solids.

Here are all the Minick and Simpson blocks so far.

And these are the Bella Solids.

This happened in the studio this week. I purchased the jumbo scissors and the thimble wall pocket at an antique auction. Why? Because they were fun. The 24" long scissors were once part of a Haberdasher's sign.  I'm picking out just the right wall space for them.

BLOCKHEADS2 - My Week!

It's my turn for my first BLOCKHEADS2 block -
This is the red, white and blue block.  It's fast and easy and YOU'RE WELCOME!

This is the Bella Solid Version .  The directions for this block can be found HERE.

I've been a fan of this little simple block for awhile. It was used as a filler block on my Portage Lake Block of the Month Sampler.  At that time, I got an nice email from yardgrl60 on instagram.  She said she loved making the block and I should think about making a quilt just out of that block. Great idea I thought!  So I did........

Yardgrl60 was right - it was fun!

Anyway....... here are my Minick and Simpson blocks so far

and here are the Bella Solid blocks so far.

Make sure to check out all the other versions on this block on the Moda Blockheads2 facebook page.
