Lucky Charm Quilts

 

I was honored to be selected to be one of the Moda All-Stars to participate in this new book.    Inside you will find 17 different quilts that use either 1 Charm Pack™, 2 Charm Packs™, or 3 Charm Packs™.  Because I always look for the easy way out - my quilt uses 1 Charm Pack™ and some added bits and pieces you all have in your fabric stash.

This Tea Time quilt used 1 red and white Charm Pack™, 2/3 yards red for piecing and binding and 1/4" yard of linen.  

There is much to choose from

I was particularly enchanted with Carrie and Tammy's quilt.

It used  Grand Traverse Bay Charms with a red Moda cross weave.  On the strength of this quilt I just ordered a bolt of that cross weave.  Expect to see it in future quilts.

Winners of Ann's Arbor Fabric Scraps

The weather didn't cooperate too much for my traditional "clothesline" shot of the new quilts.

 In other news, I have put some quilt backings up in our Etsy shop.  They are fabric from the Portage Lake Block of the Month.  These are 5 yard cuts and they are big enough for Portage Lake, and many other quilts you need to back.

We also have 1 kit left of Portage Lake with the 12 spools of Aurifil thread.

 And we received the last 6 boxes of Portage Lake thread from Aurifil last week.  While it is a perfect match for the Portage Lake quilt - it goes with just about all our fabric as it is red, white, blue, and neutral.  These last 6 thread boxes are on sale.  Once this quilt kit and thread boxes are gone - they're gone.

Ann's Arbor

Our new fabric collection, Ann's Arbor is being shown to shop owners right now and will be delivered to your favorite Quilt Shop in August 2017.  Here is my stash to make lots of new quilts!
It is our expected Red, White and Blue with an added sunny yellow.  It is crisp and summery and feels like a relaxing weekend at the family cottage.

If your like me - you will need lots of these sweet shirtings. 

The collections features a large vintage cottage stripe that is fabulous for borders and backings. This stripe is also in yellow and in medium blue.  I'm using them for borders.  Two quilts are finished and getting the bindings sewn on right now.  I have another quilt that I'll be piecing next week.  Keep checking for pictures.

Some of you remember how this works...... besides these pieces to make my quilts, I also got a box of scraps left over when Moda made the cap sets for the salesmen.  I have enough here to fill 2 large Priority Mail boxes.  Comment here about Ann's Arbor, Ann Arbor, red white and blue, yellow, summer, cottages, or anything at all......and you could win these scraps. I bet there is room in those boxes for other goodies too.

Florida Book Signing

The book launch is getting closer.  You can order the book pre-sale in out Etsy shop.  The book will be autographed and each pre-purchase will be eligible for a raffle ticket for a quilt or a rug made by Polly and I.

If by chance you are in South Florida (or want to be), Polly and I are announcing our first joint book signing.  It will be April 10th in Florida. It is a few miles north of Naples at the Ralph Lauren Showroom - just across the highway from the Outlet Mall.

Meet sisters and artists acclaimed rug hooker Polly Minick and expert quilt maker Laurie Simpson at this special event hosted by Mark Fanta, MP Interiors, at the Ralph Lauren showroom, Miromar Design Center, Estero.

Polly and Laurie will display their rugs and quilts and discuss their crafts and their latest book, Blue & White: Living with Textiles You Love. 

Rugs, quilts and books will be available for purchase.

The event starts at 1pm.  We will each show quilts and rugs featured in the book.

2 days later we fly to France and our 2nd book signing will be in Nantes at the Pour l'Amour du Fil show.
