October

This fall has been outstanding!  The weather has been glorious, the leaves are beginning to change and a certain baseball team is still playing.  This morning Gibby, and his best friend Clara and I sat outside and watched the leaves flutter down.  Two of us watched squirrels while the other one of us checked emails and twitter on their phone.

The kitchen is back to normal and all the chaos has been put back into kitchen cupboards.  Being married to a cabinetmaker does have some advantages.  I am tending to many projects that had been stalled while I finished the Grant Park quilts for Quilt Market.  All 4 quilts are quilted, bound and washed  //dislocates shoulder while patting self on the back//.

While I made lists and organized shelves in the sewing room I came across this........

What that is - is a complete kit to make the Liberty Road quilt....

Liberty Road is a quilt made from our Charlevoix fabric collection.  It was designed and named after the famous Liberty Jack quilt that is in the Victoria & Albert museum in London.  That one had Union Jack flags - ours, of course has an adaptation of the American flag.  It was also named after one of the main roads here in Ann Arbor - Liberty.  Liberty is getting a lot more use lately as it is 2 blocks from my house and runs parallel to the street I live on - Miller.  Miller has been an experience this spring/summer/fall.  We are in the 7th month of the "repaving".  I could say more, but I won't.  What I will say is that this Liberty Road kit is going to live at one of your homes.

Just make a comment here about fall, or dogs, or finishing quilts, or post season baseball, or dust, or noise - and make that comment before Sunday October 6th at midnight - and you could be the new owner.

Laurie

It truly is fall again! So beautiful! A great time for dogs and people outside! Glad to hear the kitchen chaos has been resolved, and I ' m sure you are enjoying your shiney new fridge. Time for me to get on with finishing some quilts... I' ve got pieces for three of them in various states of progress in my sewing room now. You are inspiring me to get going. May need to put a tv in there for baseball watching while sewing. Those Tigers are going to have us up late! At least I hope so!

Remember visiting my Great Aunt in Detroit during baseball season. She would be glued to the radio listening to her Tigers. When I think of the Tigers I think of her!

I can't resist leaving a comment because I l.o.v.e flags! Fall means the weather cools down a couple of degrees here in SoCal. Penny is enjoying longer walks at night because her mama isn't perspiring quite so much during the walk! Can't wait for our ten minutes of winter!

I'm keeping my fingers that the "certain baseball team" makes it all the way through this year!! Can't wait for tomorrow's game. Go Tigers!!

My dog Bailey is on Chipmunk and Squirrel patrol especially this time of year and they really torment them. We have a large oak with all the acorns falling and the squirrels come up for the acorns, scold Bailey and run up the tree and the sit on the branch and laugh at him!

My dog Mercy is on squirrel patrol whenever she's outside, and they love to run back and forth across the top rail of the fence just to tease her! Love the red maple leaves on the tree in our neighbor's yard, too.

Here in the lungs of New Orleans (I cannot claim to live in the heart.) we are in desperate need of street paving. There are massive potholes everywhere. The weather has been great here in the mountains also, Laurie. Got to high 70s today but nights are cool. The squirrels are really squirreling away the nuts and acorns - *making note to self to check to see if they are into the truck engine again.
Wondering what Gibby may have been thinking as he watched those leaves fall.
So glad the kitchen is back together -ugh, what a dilemma!! Yay for new fridge tho!!!

It started with screening in the deck and advanced to adding a new smaller deck for the grill once the old deck was screened in. That lead to we need more light in the house since the deck was screened in. Down came 9 - 100 plus foot trees to let in more light. Now our backyard is non-existent which means deciding whether to sod or seed. Of course adding the new deck means moving the sprinkler lines. Help! I just want to sew a new quilt for the new screened in porch!

I love that you and I live in the same state, so I know exactly what you are referring to when you point out local things. Speaking of that, did you go to ArtPrize in Grand Rapids? It was wonderful, and one of the most exciting things is that a huge landscape quilt (made by a Frankfort woman, no less) is one of the 10 finalists! Her quilt of the Sleeping Bear Dunes lakeshore, which is done in 4 sections, is gorgeous!

From Connecticut: fall has been outstanding, my pup loves the leaves, as did the skunk who came to visit last night; I'm working on two quilts and I don't know which one I'll finish first; the Yankees retired Andy Pettitte and Mariano Rivera and I am very sad; we are in the 4th month of road paving around here and I'm done with it; and I would love to have that Liberty Road Quilt live in my somewhat dust free home! We are having glorious weather this weekend, rather than last weekends record setting rain (Western Washington). Really happy that the Tigers are still playing, since the Seattle Mariners aren't. My husband is originally from Michigan and the Tigers was his team growing up. Love the Liberty Road quilt.

Too fun! I'll give it a go!

Today, I'm trying to finish the embroidery on a quilt that will be making its home in Indiana when one of my friends moves away in 2 weeks with her family.

She will be missed and I wanted something that she could remember our little group by and stay warm during the cold and snowy Indiana winter.

Love Fall and Dogs but best of all I love the fabric you design. Having dust takes time from my quilting

Just got home from a 2 day Quilter's Bus Hop in Illinois. The weather was great and met some really neat ladies...in our group there were 42 quilters and we were able to purchase the amazing amount of 400 + yards of fabric in 2 days from 8 quilt stores that we visited...I came home tired but totally inspired...with all of the fabric and patterns purchased you can only guess there will be little dusting done for quite a while...

This is my favorite time of year. All the wonderful produce to cook and eat, watching Tigers post-season ballgames, changing leaves and no excuses for not spending time working on my quilts!

Love your work and all you do. Thanks for a chance to win a great kit. By the way, a certain baseball team is my favorite team too!
