CHAOS

It started simply enough. We needed a new refrigerator.  Ours was getting on in years and the switch in the door for ICE had been broken for awhile.  We could have just replaced the door, but for a few hundred dollars more we could get a whole new refrigerator.  So, we waited until the old girl started to  fail and we went out and bought a new ice box.  That was last night.  Today we got a call at 6:55 am (on a Saturday) that the delivery truck was on it's way.  And I thought the only hassle would be to get it in the front door and into the kitchen.  Hah.  A path was cleared and the door came off.
That was too easy.  Way too easy.  At the appliance store last night we were given measurements and they matched our refrigerator size hole in the kitchen.  Good so far.   Alas, when the new one showed up, one of the measurements was off about 1 1/2".  The height.  Many options were discussed.  One included me leaving and finding someplace else to spend the day.  That one was veto-ed.  Damn.  Unfortunately the best option seemed to be to keep the refrigerator and make it work.  That meant the cabinet over the thing had to be raised.  Unfortunately, as it is a whole wall unit - the entire wall of cabinets had to be raised 1 1/2" from the floor.  The CHAOS commenced.  All the cabinets were emptied and the power tools came out.

Honestly, this kitchen and dining room was clean a couple hours ago

My easy going Saturday of stitching and cooking and watching baseball has screeched to a halt.  Meanwhile, all our once refrigerated food is sitting out on the counter waiting for the new, tall, sleek, ice box to be plugged in.  Oh well, the freezer needed purging anyway.

So how do we commemorate this event?  How about a CHAOS sale on our Etsy site?  If you order any KIT on our Etsy site - use the word CHAOS in the coupon code box and get 20% off the kit!!!  We only have a few kits left of any one thing.  1 or 2 of most of the kits.  It would be nice to make some more room here - if you know what I mean - so let's sell out the kits section of our Minick and Simpson Etsy store!

You'll know where to find me for the rest of the day.....

Reminds me of a similar situation we had a couple years ago - fortunately, the bottom of the cupboard above the fridge had a lip that we were able to cut off and the fridge slid in after that with 1/4" to spare!

We have the same problem. The fridge is only about 1//4" to 1/2" too tall. I need someone to come over with a saw and shave the bottom of the cupboard so it will fit.

That sounds a bit like a nightmare. Well why am I sugar coating it, total nightmare. Our fridge cave is quite small so finding a new one that fits is hard, we're practically reduced to a large dorm room fridge. Good luck.

What is the name of the red/white quilt laying in front of the door that was taken down? Is there a pattern for it?

The red and white quilt is a "cheater cloth" quilt made from a fabric in the Flag Day Farm collection. The name of the specific fabric is called "Polly's Quilt". The cheater cloth was stitched up into a bed size quilt top. I don't know of anyone who still has that fabric - that collection is several years old.
