Our Day!

It's finally our day on the Moda Friendship Quilt Along.  We hope you are enjoying it and visiting old friends and new on this digital coffee klatch.

This is our block.......

And here is the PDF file for all the instructions.  Are you making them all and getting your friends to sign them?

We sure wish we could offer all the great stuff that the other stops along this hop have offered you.....
beautiful photos of quilt blocks and lovelies, or even some good ol' photo-shopped jokes.  Alas, either no time or no skill for such things.  I'd make up some glamorous excuse - but it's simply that we are in a time crunch with writing new patterns, making new quilts, and planning our first trip to France.   Oh wait - that IS a glamorous excuse.  Excusez-moi!

Well, when handed lemons - make lemonade.  We'll do what works for best for us - a giveaway!

Make a comment on what quilt you would make if you had more time before midnight March 2nd
And you can get this....
Indigo Crossing Layer Cake™

Or Maybe this.........

A Honeycomb™ of our newest collection - Midwinter Reds

Still not enough incentive.... how about some Candy™ of both these collections

I will even toss in some scraps of the now in progress quilts.  As a matter of fact - I'll add yardage to all of the above pre-cuts so you can get started on one of your dream quilts.

Both Polly and I are multi-tasking like crazy to make all of our deadlines.  I think you know about one of my favorite multi-tasking tricks is to listen to audio books while I drive.  The newest audio book from the library is here today - to inspire me to work and to get me into the mood for Paris -
Les Miserables book on CD

Look closely folks - that is 51 CD's.  If I drive from Paris Maine to Paris Texas with stops at Paris Arkansas and Paris Kentucky - I still won't make a dent in this baby.  Hmmmm, if only there were an easier way to enjoy this story, you know........like a movie.

Make sure to visit the other stops today on the Moda Friendship Quilt Along

2013 Designer Mystery Blog Hop

Thank you Fat Quarter Shop for asking us to participate in your Designer Mystery quilt!  As you all know, if you have been paying any attention at all, this is a great  Designer BOM being offered.  The quilt this year features Avalon fabric collection by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics.

This quilt is constructed in rows.  Our block is a house block.  We LOVE houses.  Polly is actually kind of famous because of her house (and her previous homes).  It has been photographed many times for magazines.  Remember theses pictures?

So, when the Fat Quarter shop asked us to post a picture of our favorite house - I said I would  choose Polly's house.  My house?  //wipes tears from eyes because laughing so hard//  First of all I would have to clean my house.  That's a story for another day.

When I do lectures and trunk shows, the most frequently asked question is "Does Polly's house really look like that?".  Yes it does.  Everyday.  Polly used to be a magazine stylist in her previous life and her home reflects that.

So imagine all of Polly's lovely interiors and furnishings transported to this beauty.  This is the house Polly and I chose for our dream house.  Just think of the stair climbing exercise you would get as you take your daily walk on the beach!  There just has to be a white sandy beach at the bottom of those stairs.

Make sure to stop at these other blogs today.  They will tell you about their favorite houses too.

This is what is occupying my house at the moment.  Lots and lots of things made out of red and white fabric.  It seems, it isn't enough that I have yards of fabric to create and play with - I am now making my own fabric with all the teeny, tiny scraps.

These lovelies will soon be turned into something else entirely.  We'll be showing more of this in the upcoming weeks - This new collection is called Midwinter Reds.

Make a comment and get a chance to win a Layer Cake ™

Timely

Thank you for all the kind words about Indigo Crossing, our current collection that is in your local quilt shops.

The intense simplicity of a 2 color collection is great fun.  You would think the options would be limiting, but you would be wrong.

It reminds me of another great 2 color combination that is quite timely right now - red and white.

Happy Valentine's Day

Today is actually famous here in the Midwest for these -

Paczki

These Polish treats are quite popular for Fat Tuesday.

As you see - they fit in nicely with my theme today.
Red and white can be just as dramatic in decorating as indigo and white.

Red and white has always been a favorite of mine.  This was in last August's issue of American Patchwork and Quilting.  I had lots of fun making it.

Red and white is gorgeous and soothing in it's simplicity.

I have been having fun with red and white again..... our new fabric collection that will show soon at quilt market just happens to be red and white.  Go figure.  This is what I've been doing the last couple of days.  This is just a sneak peek until we can reveal a bit more.

Moda Friendship Quilt Along

Polly and I would like to thank all of you who sent well wishes our way for this past Superbowl.  We are a family with divided interests in the game.  The video below is 2 of Polly's sons talking about their friendship with Jim and John Harbaugh.

I think NFL films prevents me from embedding the above video, but if you copy and paste that code into your browser you can see the film.  Thanks!
