Jan Patek Appreciation Day

Today is Jan Patek Appreciation Day here at Minick and Simpson.  You all know of Jan's work.  A lifetime committed to folk art quilts!  You probably should appreciate her just for that.  We do.  But, wait - there's more!

Jan is trooper.  A great gal.  A good friend.

My little bug I brought home from Quilt Market has been diagnosed as pneumonia.  Hey, I'm fine, just not at my best, if you know what I mean.  Anyway, Polly and I have a workshop next week at Hen and Chicks Quilt Studio in Conrad Iowa.  It looked like the workshop would have to be cancelled, but Jan came to the rescue and is going to teach my Summer Roses quilt.  You lucky ladies who have signed up have just gotten an upgrade.  You can thank me later.
Thanks Jan!

Here is Jan and her latest line at the before mentioned International Quilt Market.

Pneumonia! That doesn't sound fun. I do hope you are feeling better soon. How lovely to have a friend to cover for you so you can get the rest you need.

Feel better soon! BTW, in your bag pattern in August AP&Q, what English paper piecing precut paper templates did you use..or recommend? I've never attempted English P.P. before (Sounds kind funny written like that). Thanks!

I used papers from www.paperpieces.com. They are in many quilt shops - or you can order directly online.

I used the 1" papers, but you can use any size - as long as you make your patchwork piece big enough for the purse pattern. Good luck.

Thank you Laurie! I just reread the AM&Q aritcle and noted the paperpieces website. You used 1" not 3/4"? Thanks for the info and the size you used.

Susan -

Uh, did I mention I wasn't feeling all that sharp? Yes, 3/4" - not 1". Although 1" would work. Sorry :/
