Sleep Deprivation

There have been some long days and nights here lately. Lots of quiltmaking going on here.
We are in the homestretch though. If I have a productive day, I think I can get the tops to our quilter Kari Ruedisale tomorrow. The UPS guy has been wearing down a path to the porch with all the incoming and outgoing packages. These arrived yesterday. These are the Layer Cakes ™, Jelly Rolls ™, and Charm Packs ™ for our upcoming collection - Clermont Farms. Look how nicely Clermont Farms works with Bar Harbor fabric. Ummm, if you hadn't noticed by now - pretty much all of our collections work together :) Well, you might have a challenge with working in the chartreuse green of Halloween Night.

My cutting table is piled with scraps of Clermont Farms too - so you know what that means. Giveaway! Make a comment here before midnight Saturday May 8th and you could win one of the pre-cuts and a pile of scraps. Hey, how many blogs offer a pile of scraps. Only the best for you people. Make a comment about anything at all, or about your tips for quilting all-nighters. I need all the help I can get.

Laurie

An all night quilting tip--make sure your fingers are not close to the needle and also make sure you have a few spares...

As far as tips...Comcast on demand & chocolate will get me thru about 3am after that it is very hard especially if you try to do it on an ongoing basis. Perhaps an hour cat nap in the day will yield many more productive hours at night?

I just love all the RWB lines so would be so excited to win scraps!

Best Wishes!

All those fabrics are wonderful! I would not mind a pile of your scraps at all! No all nighters for me! I need my sleep! And I much prefer sewing than ripping out!

Scraps are fun! All nighters for quilting are much more appealing that all nighters because of a paper or taxes or because someone is sick - just make sure all the critical thinking is done on the early end? :)

Count me in one the scraps!! as if I don't have enough of my own - lol. Loving each of your collections and books as they appear.

My advice for quilting all-nighters... Books on CD--something to keep your brain busy without taking your eyes away from what you're doing. And get up every half hour or so to walk around a little, just to get the blood flowing again.

Good luck! (And thanks for hosting such a cool giveaway!)

My tip for staying up late sewing/quilting.... LOTS and LOTS of coffee and watching Craig Ferguson. He cracks me up and gets me in a good enough mood that I can continue on!

Gorgeous line, BTW!!

Cermont Farms looks awesome! I can't wait to see more.

Whenever I'm going to be stitching for a long period of time (and there's no hockey to be found) I go with the Jason Bourne movies. They are surprisingly conducive to getting lots of work done.

Wow...the new collection is promising to be gorgeous!
I'm only used to all-nighters in front of the computer - and the thing that keeps me up till the morning is always the fear to fail...so maybe I'm not the best one giving tips...;o)
- stretch your shoulders from time to time & walk around your table (or even around the house for some fresh air)
- don't forget to drink
- don't stop too long...it's getting really hard to resume your work once you're in 'pause mode' ;o)
- music! choose your background music well, it really influcences your concentration & mood!

quilting all nighter...I've never done it! I fall asleep early every time!

Quilting all nighters require lots of caffeine in the form of chocolate and chai latte for me! Give it a try - you can do it. Can't wait to see Clermont Farm!

Hmmm ... a box of 100-calorie milk chocolate bars from Trader Joe's???

The fabrics are wonderful! And I do love how they all go together! Would love to win that drawing.
I have pulled more all nighters quilting than I care to remember. But that makes it more interesting. Right???

Clement Farms is beautiful! Hmmm - quilting all nighters. Big glass of tea, snacks and several movies. Send everyone else to bed.

Love your fabrics! Can't wait to see Clermont Farm. The name is really neat.

Most people would say "crap, scraps"..but not quilters...we say "bring 'em on"!!!

My favorite colors-red, white and blue. You two can take such simple patterns and make them stunningly creative. And they all would work in my house. Thanks for all the inspiration. Books on tape or a movie, coca cola and chocolate seem to get me through the all-nighters. (I still do them occasionally.)

I love scraps! I cannot wait to see all your pictures and quilts from market.

Your new fabric line looks beautiful! My one rule that I live by for night time quilting is never use the rotary cutter after 10pm. I cut things I shouldn't after that!

I love your designs and your blog!

Oh, I would love to make something beautiful from your scraps! It doesn't matter that I already have scraps of my own, right?!

Clermont Farms looks like another winning line to me. I love how all of your lines of fabric work together so well. It does make it a bit easier to make a quilt with them.

Clermont Farms is another beautiful line of fabric. Thanks. As far as all-nighters. My advice, get to bed by midnight & then get up early the next day. That's what works for me as a "morning person". Good luck!

Can't get enough of your red, white and blue fabrics. The Clermont Farms scraps will look terrific in my next patriotic quilt. Thanks for offering your crumbs.

Take a one hour nap in the afternoon and for sure you won't be able to sleep at all at night! That works for me!! Good luck with all your work - you will be so elated when it all comes together. Please share photos of your booth at market. Hope I can win some of your scraps!! Thanks!!

I love the new line! Can't wait untill it's available!

I have to admit, I am getting too old to pull all nighters --- they leave me functionless! I quilted with Kari's Mom yesterday --- wondered if she had your quilts yet --- guess you answered that question. I really would have liked to attend Ernie Harwell's wake at Comerica Park --- will miss his "voice of summer".

I am making the Bar Harbor quilt and could use some scraps etc... please, please!

Love the Clermont Farm fabric! I can definitely make good use of any scraps sent my way (if I win, of course!) dsb448@att.net

I love the fact that your fabrics all work together. That makes it so easy for this color challenged person. Bless you.
