Yes, this will test how truly sad we ALL are. Minick and Simpson are having a give-away! Just comment on this post by Midnight, Monday April 27th and all this could be yours! Yep - the scraps from cutting out 3 quilts. This is our new Wiscasset collection that won't even be on your quilt shop shelves until this Fall. Actually, we will pack a large Priority Mail box chock full of this and other Minick and Simpson scraps for you to enjoy. I will even throw in some Minick and Simpson patterns to use it all up.
Some people might think this is petty or even tongue-in-cheek, but quilters know we cannot throw this away, and sadly, I certainly cannot keep anymore around here. Here is a 60 quart container full of nothing but Minick and Simpson scraps.

I have 3 of these. The lids cannot accommodate any more. This does not take into account the 14 of these tubs I have in the basement of all my other fabric scraps that were in my collection before we started designing for Moda. This does not take into account the 9 of these tubs that I have given away in the last 2 years to other quilters and to the local quilt guild. This does not take into account the 2-3 scrap quilts I make every year that only use these scrap tubs. This does not take into account the yardage (not scraps) that I have stacked on shelves. You are starting to see my dilemma, aren't you?
I don't want to give it all away. I want to ALWAYS have scraps around to make quilts - but there is a limit.
You all have tubs and tubs of scraps too, don't you? It won't stop you from entering this contest though, will it? (Heavy sigh). Good luck to all!
Here is a picture of a quilt I finished this week. I started it about (mumble mumble) years ago. It is for my sister-in-law Margie. It is her turn to get a quilt. She picked out these fabrics and I worked on it in fits and starts over the years. In between projects and deadlines. So, Margie, you can pick up your quilt now. It was fun doing all of the hand quilting.

Back to work.....
Laurie

Great quilt. During the past year or so I have purchased a few quilting magazines (just part of my hundreds of magzines - decorating, stamping etc) and then comment to Lyal that I should get the sewing machine out and try my hand at a quilt. Maybe when my dedicated craft room is completed then I will give it a try, so, a bunch of your scraps would be a wonderful addition. Karen
A tub of scraps - O how wonderful it would be to use your beautiful scraps for my hand applique quilts.
Oh, please draw my name. I'd love to work with your scraps. And the star is gorgeous!
Hi Laurie, You have been quite busy. Margie's quilt is lovely. Thank you for the opportunity to win scraps from the lovely Wiscasset fabrics before they're even available in my local shop. Any Minick and Simpson scraps are welcome in our home, we will put them to good use. --Lisa
Sorry to say that I don't have bins of scraps. Lots of fabric, but not a lot of scraps. But I'd love some, so please count me in on the contest.
Wonderful quilt and fabulous quilting! Surely worth the wait!
But we have to wait until the Fall for the new fabric line? :-((((
Karen
I love your blog. I would love to make something wonderful from your scraps and then send it back to you for Market. If you would rather, I can give it to a charity. You guys are the best!
Nancy
I would love to have your scraps! I've just been quilting for about a year and a half. I love the scrappy looking quilts. I've been dreaming of when I might have enough scraps on hand to try to make one. I especially love your fabric lines. I am finishing my third quilt made out of a prairie paisley jelly roll.
I would love to win your scraps:) Then again what quilter wouldn't? Thanks for the giveaway and who has to many scraps?
Hello, I live in Australia and would love to have a bundle of scraps. It looks like you have an Airedale too with her winter coat on. I use tins to hold my bits and pieces too, what a great idea to put a pin-holder in the lid. Will put it on my to-do list.
Scraps, they look more like a treasure trove of delight. Thanks for the opportunity.
ahoo.comLaurie, 83 comments already, I absolutely love your quilt and your hand quilting is stunning. Can always use fabric scaps when they are that beautiful. Nancy
I'm not one to pass up free fabric
It is sad that even though I don't know where to put all my fabric right now, that I would still want to win your scrap bag. Because they would be new scraps to me and especially because it is your new line of fabric. My hat is officially in the ring!
That quilt is lovely. Margie is very lucky!
I love scraps! I refuse to count how many tubs I have collected. Always love something new to work with!
So I guess you could say the old saying, "One man's "trash" is another man's treasure" applies here. Oh, how I would treasure your scraps here in the far away land of Pennsylvania. Love reading your blog!
Scraps? I thought I heard a voice in the distance calling my name... I particularly like the green plaid on the top of your bin. If I don't win ~ which I never do ~ can I still have that piece?

Cheryl, Brisbane, Australia
From your tub to my tub. I can't think of anything I would like more!
I would adore winning some of your scraps. Being a Scrap Maven of advanced years does nothing to dim my appreciation of new fabric nor endless scraps. Thanks for the opportunity *VBS* Hugs, Finn
Omigosh! I would love your scraps!
Some patterns would be good too. If I don't win, I guess I can wait until fall to buy Wiscasset.
I am not much of a quilter, but I am giving it a good try...lol (I'm not even sure how to add the binding to the edges!!!)There is something special when you see a quilt and feel it's fabric...I think it must be the love that had gone into making it....that is why I started to "try" and learn how to quilt. My favorite is the hand stitching (Im a rug hooker also, and love the hand work) One day I will finish a quilt and I will give it to my daughter. When she is older with munchkins of her own, after I am gone to the great crafty heaven, a distant family memeber will wrap themselves in that quilt and the love that went into it will be passed onto them.
Thank you for the work you do, it is very inspiring.

Hah! I only have ONE tub of scraps, but I faithfully use them every month for a block lotto I"m in. I committed to making blocks every month whether I win or not for this lotto since my primary plan was to use up scraps and get them out or used up. I've been making 8 blocks a month since last Sept. (6"). I won the blocks twice (48-60) of them each time. So, it has been worthwhile. I'd like to add some new color to my scraps by winning these and I will commit to using them every month too!
I would love to win your scraps - then they could come party with my scraps!! LOL I feel your pain, but scraps are so delicious, aren't they? They really do liven up a quilt.
Would love to win your scraps, I just signed up for a "Scrap Therapy" class. Perfect timing.
