Mini-Charm Quilts Blog Hop

It's time for another Moda All-Star book - this one uses those adorable Mini-Charms we all love so much.  We love them, but what exactly can we do with them. Now you know!  You can mix them up, and add yardage to make small quilts or doll quilts.  You can mix them up and keep adding to them to make a bed size quilt.  You can even take 1 Mini-Charm pack and make a English Paper Pieced pincushion.....

That's what I did! I used 1 Mini-Charm of Snowfall (and nothing else) and made this.  Are quilts more to your liking?

Or even a quilt that you can play games on!

This book will give you lots of options.  It will also do some good.  All proceeds will go to LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs.

Tell us how you feel about Mini-Charms, or about small quilts, or pincushions, or dogs, and leave a comment here before midnight March 4th.  I will pick out 3 winners of books and charms!

Laters,

Laurie

Thank you so much. I love dogs. My daughter has 2 adorably spoiled poodle mixes. Love them to pieces. I love the idea of quilts made out of board games.

Hi Laurie! What a great giveaway :D I definitely want to make your pincushion - and I already have a Snowfall MC, and hmmmm, a bedsized quilt make with mini-charms? My head's whirling! My daughter just started work at a veterinarian hospital so she's going to be helping (and loving on) so many pups and kitties! Maybe we'll get the chance to foster or adopt - WooHoo!

I like the pincushion. When my granddaughter was little, we made a doll quilt together using a mini charm pack. It was a great experience for us both. She loves to sew and just complete her first large quilt. Love your designs, Laurie. clara-chandler@att.net

I love mini projects. I make a lot of big bed sized quilts and for me it's always fun to have a break between them and make a fun little project with smaller pieces! your pincushion is a great design that I'll have to try. Combining this book with profits toward the comfort dogs is a marvelous thing. Thanks for the chance to win.

I love to make mini quilts or pillows from mini charms and as a retired Activity Director of a nursing home this is a cause near and dear to my heart.

I love mini quilts and cute little things. The only time when bigger is indeed better is with dogs. Give me a big sloppy dog and I'm happy but I can't stand the little-to-be-carried-around-in-a-handbag-yappy-rat-dog-things.

I love making mini things~ they make such fun gifts, or tuck into corners around my home. And doing a quicker finish makes the larger projects more bearable to me. LOL Thanks for the fun!

I love making mini quilts from mini charms. The charms are the perfect size for the patches and for appliqué.

I use a lot of charms but have not tried the mini's yet. I enjoy doing mini quilts or table toppers so I think they would work well for me.

Thanks for a chance.

I love dogs! Both my fur babies are rescues and it warms my heart that proceeds from this book benefits such an amazing dog charity. I have always wanted to do a miniature doll house. I love the mini charms and keep them in a pretty jar in my sewing room. Years ago one of the online fabric companies sent samples out in tiny squares. I use to sew those little sample squares together to make doll quilts. I was especially thrilled when Moda created mini charms.

I enjoy hand quilting and love mini charms for small, portable projects. When our maltese was still alive, he loved the handmade blankies! The game quilt is a great idea for my grand children who are always on the go.

I really like making small quilts. It's so nice to have some projects that you can finish in a shorter amount of time and see the results. There are so many quilts I want to make and I can finish more if they are small!

I love dogs, especially Scottish terriers! So glad to see that the proceeds are going to a good cause. Mini quilts are fun to do, too. I have only made a couple, though. I have an assortment (snort) of mini charms that I need ideas for. This book looks so fun!

I enjoy displaying mini quilts in my kitchen. I hang them on a door that I can see while eating. After I get tired of looking and studying them I change them out for another. It’s time to make more as I think I’ve studied all of my current ones for too many years!
As for dogs I love my grand dog Sally but find cats more my style. Less needy and more independent. Sally though gives me such joy when she visits ...

Dogs! Ha, with a rescue dog in our home (called Whopper, yes... named after that burger) I am all for this great cause, the book looks great. Love that pincushion, so pretty, I think that might be my first must-make of this book.. with Whopper at my feet :-)

I enjoy making pincushions for gifts to my quilty peeps! And I love making doll quilts! Our guild has a challenge every summer - buy a doll or stuffed animal, and make a quilt for it. We have a doll quilt show in October (with a Viewer's Choice Award), and then we donate them to a local charity for their "sibling store." This is where children can select toys for their brothers and sisters.

When you are overrun with quilts in your house, the next step is to start working on mini quilts and this book and your patterns would be a joy to work through. Of course, helping to get more of those sweet puppies to give comfort to those in need is a huge plus.

I love your pincushion. I would like to make it just as you did and then summon my superpowers as a sewist and woman to expand it large enough to be a perfect ottoman. It would be so perfect in our living room. It would need to be rather firm with energetic grandchildren launching themselves on and off it. But it would be so very loved.

I continue to stand in awe of all you create.

Well I must say I love all three...especially dogs ;o) I have 5 and they are all indoor. Mini quilts and charms are for fun quilts that go together fast. I can also quilt the smaller quilts and practice my free motion machine quilting.

Mini charms are convenient and colorful! Mini quilts are always nice for a quick weekend project....and they also make great accent pieces when finished! Dogs are wonderful and I love the Comfort Dog program!!! I had a rather serious health scare a couple of years ago....which involved being stuck in a hospital bed for a week (followed by surgery)....and I was surprised by visits from comfort dogs! I've got to say those dogs brought so much happiness! I looked forward to my visit from them each day...and it kept my mind off of the seriousness of being in a hospital....The BEST therapy in the world! :-)
