October

We've been away too long haven't we?  The calendar has been nagging me to post, but what to do when your life is uneventful, boring, and redundant?  What could I possibly rant on about?

First of all, Today is Polly's birthday.  Everyone say Happy Birthday to Polly!  It's also the UNOFFICIAL start to Fall.  The real start was a week or so ago, but you see October on the calendar and you know it's autumn.  Polly tells a story about her birthday when she was a kid.  She is a fan of pumpkin pie and her "Birthday Cake" every year was more often a "Birthday Pumpkin Pie."
I listen to this story in horror as I would never choose a pumpkin pie over cake.  Some people who know me (and some who read this blog) know that I have ranted the past several years regarding the over-pumpkinization of our fair land. It's a ridiculous thing to get worked up over, but someone has to do it.  This is what I found at the grocery store 2 days ago…..
Dear God, no.  And looked what was keeping it company….
I have learned to avoid coffee shops this time of year because of this…...
I'm now getting horrible things like this sent to me via instagram from other like minded folk.  Thanks.  I think.

I stole this wonderful picture from the internet, but It spoke to me……..

October is also a few other things…. It's Halloween season, it's Getting Ready For Quilt Market Season , (and the reason some of your favorite quilt blogs are a bit spotty lately) and it's also Post Season Baseball.  Forgive me while I try not to have a nervous breakdown.  Go Tigers !

Laurie

Happy birthday, Polly!

I love October: NHL season begins (go Blues!) and MLB post season (go Cardinals!). The only pumpkin thing I'm interested in is pumpkin bread. The rest of pumkin flavored things? No thanks!

Happy Birthday Polly may you hook a good one today !!! I recently wrote to Kraft foods complaining that here on the East Coast we don't get any pumpkin spiced marshmallows , you know for the Holiday decorating :) They said sadly no store on this East Coast carries them , we can get an exotic fruit from South America but not good ole American stuff.

Happy Birthday Polly! Love your pumpkin rant. I like a good piece of pumpkin pie, but all this other stuff. Not so much. Happy Fall!

Happy Birthday, Polly. And stay away from the Pumpin Milano's. I hear they are nasty business and not at all edible.

This is a small comfort but every time I see "pumpkin-whatever" in the grocery store or in ads, I burst out laughing and think of you.

By the way, you missed the Pumpkin Spice M&Ms, Hershey's Kisses, Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares and Marshmallows. Fortunately I think the Pumpkin Spice Pringles Potato Crisps have gone the way of the dodo. (I loved that the label said "Artificially Flavored"... really? Because of course, Fall potatoes always taste like pumpkins.)

Go Tigers!

See you in - ACK! - three weeks.

If you mixed a few of your beautiful blues with some pumpkin colored fabrics you might fall in love with pumpkin. :) It happens . I love orange and blue together this time of year. Happy Birthday to the birthday girl ! Our Pumpkin pies have been over taken by pumpkin cheesecakes . It is the preferred choice by my kids. Still , I love a good old fashioned pumpkin pie.

Sorry to hear about your pumpkin woes Laurie , It is going to be a long Fall season for you. More reason to stay home and stitch for you. Janita
