Makin' It Cute

Our friends over at The Fat Quarter Shop and our friends Barb and Mary of Me and My Sister have asked to join them for Makin' It Cute!

This arrived last week in the mail….

This little pattern is to make a Makin' It Cute heart!  Let me tell you how easy it is.  First of all - I made this - I am the Poster Child for easy.    2nd of all - Barb and Mary had the booth next to us at Quilt Market where they demonstrated this.  I watched them Makin' It Cute about 1000 times.  I could do it in my sleep.  Take my word for it - this is quick, easy, and will adorn just about anything you want.
First I made a quilt sandwich.  Then I traced the heart templates onto the top fabric.  Look! I actually used scraps of fabric and batting - and here's the proof.

Next I stitched inside the drawn line on my trusty little Featherweight.  Notice these are curved quilting lines.  That's a first, folks.  The only other machine quilting I have done is straight lines on a small quilt.

Then I cut out the hearts with pinking shears about 1/4" away from the stitches.
Then I went for a search of a button from my button tin.  I sewed the button on, through all the layers and it was done.  Now, what shall I adorn??

Gibby needed a little spiffing up.  If you look very close, on the right side of his nose, he has lots of stitches. (NOT from my featherweight).  He had a run in with a wire fence last week.  He's doing great.

I would love to send this Makin' It Cute pattern, another pattern, and a Crazy For Red Layer Cake™to someone. Just comment on what you would adorn.  I'll pick a winner Saturday October 18th.  Thanks!

Laurie

P.S. The winner of the Crazy For Red Fat Quarter Bundle™ from the previous post is…….. DKay.  DKay, email me HERE and I'll get it right out to you.

Gibby looks very sweet with her embellishment! I would probably do the same with Stella, my son's dog that I am taking care of for him. I think she would either love it or go nuts trying to get it off so she could chew it to bits.

I have a yellow lab, Bramble that would look so cute just like your Gibby. I also have to come up with an idea for a "prize" for our sorority luncheon. Who wouldn't want to win one of these?

NO puppies in our condo but I know a couple of little girls this would look just darling on.

Crazy For Gibby ~ Poor guy :( Well he's still just as handsome as ever! Those Makin' It Cute patterns would make lots of darling gift tags for the upcoming holidays. Maybe a bunting/garland? Lots of possibilities!

Definitely my sister. She has such a full plate right now it is never ending. I would love to do this for her and hopefully brighten her day a bit.

Gibby sounds like my Molly. Last year she barrelled through a wooded area and came out with a gash in her leg that needed stitches. We think is was a barbed wire fence. I would make a garland with both the hearts and butterflies for my granddaugther's room. Thank you for the chance to win this wonderful prize. Take care and God bless, Cory

Gibby looks great with his collar tag but I don't think my cats would like it, too. But a really good friend is pregnant and her daughter will hopefully born around 24th (but you never know). I think a little heart would be a great gift tag for her quilt.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I would adorn my Granddaughter. She would love the heart. It would have to be in shades of pink though. She is 5. Everything is in pink. Have been enjoying your posts. You are too funny. :) I especially liked your post on all the pumpkin products which are out now. So true. I noticed several today myself while shopping. The worst one for me was the traditional English muffins in "pumpkin spice." Yuk!

I would adorn each of my co-workers with one of those darling hearts, mostly because they all really need spiffin'-up (way more than your Gibby does). Crazy for Reds Collection makes me well...want some of those luscious fabrics & cute patterns that I think even I could handle. Some of us quilters are eternal "beginners" always on the lookout for something pretty &, of course, easy to create.
