Favorites are scrappy and or sampler quilts, and I love love love stars. The one I am working on now is a red white and blue sampler.

I too have Moda Love. If it were the only fabric company out there, I would be ok.
My first quilt was a Log Cabin. I saw a picture in a magazine and had to make one. I had never made a quilt, big or small, but no one ever told me I couldn't so I forged onward! I used remnants mostly. It was the late 70's and I was a young mother. My local JoAnns was my therapist. I gathered remnants on sale and it was a total calico creation. I used cardboard and cut templates...2 1/2 x2 1/2....2 1/2x 41/2....etc....each piece individually cut by hand with the precision the quilt book I found said was essential! I did not think anything about it. I stitched instead of sleeping and eventually it was complete. It lived through twenty years of almost continuous use.

Love the quilt and the history. Thanks for sharing. Some of my favorite quilts are the "old" ones I inherited from my grandmother.
