Country Divided

Something has been on my mind lately.  An event is coming up in November that has people excited.  Unfortunately, we are a nation divided and it seems that we have no tolerance for the opposition.  I am taking a stand.  Despite the fact that it might offend some of you - I am proclaiming .....

Enough with the Pumpkin!

Have you folks been on Pinterest lately?  I mean...... please stop with the pumpkin recipes.

Pumpkin pancakes
There are pumpkin Whoopie Pies

Pumpkin French Toast

Pumpkin Enchilada Soup

And last, but not least, Pumpkin Chai Latte

No people!  Just Say No!!!!  I don't want pumpkin flavored tea or coffee, and really - does anyone?  I suspect a plot by the pumpkin lobby.

Anyway, I feel better getting that off my chest.

What else?  We have started the Spirit of Sacagawea Block of The Month class at Lake Street Mercantile and we did the first block.  I am working along too - and I re-did the block working from just my scrap basket.  I'm liking how this is turning out.

Polly also wants you to know that there is only one stocking kit left, and only two Semper Fi kits left :(

Now, I have to get off this Internet thing and get showered and get ready to watch a ballgame.  Yes, we had tickets last night to game 4 of the American League Championship Series.  Here's a picture I took during the Rain Delay.  Yep, no rain.  For over an hour we sat in beautiful weather during a delay.  The game was eventually called (before a drop fell) and is rescheduled for today.  There seems to be some issues with our tickets being scanned, not scanned, re-scanned, or whatever.  Let's just say, for the good of mankind, that we are admitted back into the game.

Hmmm. Well, I'd like to keep the pumpkin muffins, but the coffee shops can keep their artificially flavored pumpkin drinks--they all taste like soap!

I was about to write a post about the exact same thing - too much pumpkin! I admit to being taken in by all the pumpkin hype and tried pumpkin spice coffee at my local coffee shop. Ehhh, I really can't see the excitement. I prefer a delicious cup of coffee that tastes like coffee and if I want to savor the taste of pumpkin there's not much better than a pumpkin pie.

Thanks for the laugh today. ;) Your block using scraps is perfect. I love that about scrap quilts. They rarely disappoint.

I LOVE how your block turned out!
This quilt is on my "to do" list for 2013. Thanks for the Pumpkin commentary today - it made me smile in agreement!

A slice of pumpkin pie after a great Thanksgiving meal and I've had enough pumpkin! So I completely agree with you. GO TIGERS!!!

I'm with you on this! Pumpkin pie after Thanksgiving dinner, and I'm done with it for another year. Kinda getting turned off on sweet potatoes, too, for that same reason. I like them baked with butter, or candied yams. No fries, pies, cakes, etc., thank you very much!

All those recipes for pumpkin look so good!! And wasn't that something about the game. They could have fit it in I think as the rain didn't start until later, but I'm about ready to watch them now. Go Tigers!!

What!!??? I'm on the other side--bring on the pumpkin!! I'm ashamed to admit that I even bought the "limited edition" pumpkin pie Pop Tarts this morning. Okay, now I will go sit in the corner.

You are a hoot! But you already knew I felt that way. Keep 'em comin'. :-)

I certainly hope that you are at the game today (Thurs). We are watching in KY and LOVING the way the Tigers are playing.

I concur with the overload of pumpkin everything! A bite or sip here and there could be good, but it is being added to any type of recipe.
Hope you are at the game right now. Unfortunately I am a Yankee's fan. They just fell apart & your Tigers have really come on. Good luck against St. Louis (probably).

I agree, enough already, our country doesn't need this or more pumpkin recipes for that matter.

I am just curious since we talked about division in the country..If most people want what is good for them and their families, what is it that divides us so much ?????

Oh, I disagree. Bring on the pumpkin. Pumpkin Swirl ice coffee from Dunkin Donuts and Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks----wow it's heaven. And I never get enough pumpkin pie!!!!!

I thought for sure you were going to say the country divided for cheering for the two teams in the World Series. Good luck to your Tigers whoever they end up playing.

gonna have to check out those pumpkin pancakes. I've loved pumpkin ever since i was little, so i look forward to this time of year. I'm with you in the "regular coffee, please" gang. i like to add the extra with a flavored creamer or a candy cane swizzle stick at Christmas time.

I think the pumpkin enchilada soup looks good. All the recipes look good. Okay, maybe not the pumpkin chai.

Congrats on the Tigers win! I am both sad and happy to see a former Mariner make it to the World Series.Maybe some day the Mariners will actually make it to the World Series.

The Pumpkin Craze seeped into my house last night. I've been trying to keep it out but this morning discovered a large can of pumplin and a new bag of flour on the counter. Someone in our house wants to make "Pumpkin Pancakes" (she just learned how). I want to hide them! Love the block you've been working on. Wish I had a stash like yours to work with. The blues are beautiful. Have fun and enjoy the game tonight!Go Tigers!

WOW, I agree pumkins are best used as jack-o-lanterns!! Thanks for speaking my thoughts!!

I'd rather sew a pumpkin themed quilt than eat and drink all of that stuff! ;) I've never understood the hype over pumpkin spice latte from SB's. It's pretty gross, in my opinion! Thanks for the laugh!

My pumpkin has to be in solid form. I never understood the "pumpkin juice" think in Harry Potter either.

I don't "do" Pinterest, nor Facebook. I know, I'm weird. HOWEVER!~ I think because of that.. I AM looking for pumpkin recipes!~ LUV the stuff. I think the web can burn us out on things before we naturally are... It IS Fall after all. I have discovered cinnamon chips and plan to make a pumpkin bread with them today.

Used up all those scraps I won from ya'll a while back for QOV. They worked up well for tops. Thank you

Just had to comment because yesterday we were at Dunkin Donuts and they are advertising pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin spice muffins but what REALLY got me was the SPICED PUMPKIN WHITE CHOCOLATE ICED LATTE... wondering... is there coffee in there somewhere? Sounds HORRIBLE! I told hubby the same thing you said... enough with the pumpkin!

I'm with you. Pumpkin pie is the best use of pumpkin and that is why it has been around so long and will remain. I am so tired of food manufacturers always coming up with new varieties of food classics.
i.e. How many different kinds of Cheerios do we really need? I'm sure the producers make enough money from people 'trying' new flavors or they would stop making them, but they've fooled me before and now - no more!

Hum I would like to know where the recipes cames from for the whoopie pies and for the pumpkin enchilda soup. What is the web site with all the goodies (sorry I guess I am pro pumpkin!

Congrats to your Tigers! I am cheering for them as you now have Prince Fielder a former Brewer. I am a Brewer fan and if we couldn't make it to the playoffs, I am happy to know that a former player is there. Good Luck.
