Summer Doldrums

Posts have been few and far between lately, haven't they?  Sorry about that.  We've been a bit housebound lately finishing up on projects and getting things ready.  I proofread a manuscript and 3 upcoming patterns yesterday.  I'm a bit cross-eyed.  I think I'll treat myself to a little road trip this afternoon.  Even if it is only to buy a spool of thread.  Both the new book and patterns will be on our blog and website soon.  I am also in the middle of a quilting project that I am NOT in love with.  That makes for some slow going stitching, I tell you.  Hopefully I'll start feeling better about it shortly.  What have I occupied my mind with while quilting on this ornery beast of a quilt?  I'll fill you in (by showing some pictures recently posted on Pinterest)......

Marseille  France

Doesn't this look like a lovely place to spend a hot summer?  I think so.  And while sightseeing and dining and bathing and such - wouldn't it be great to get around on one of these?

Or how about what's upcoming in a week or so....

Official poster of the 2012 Olympic Games

I think it would be appropriate to be stitching and watching in a chair like this.
From Habitually Chic ®

Excitement, travel, and stitching is what is on both Polly's and my mind lately.  Oh, we'll let you in on more of that when the time comes.    For now, have a relaxing day and keep cool while you stitch.

We only have one blue stocking kit left and the only option left on the cooler bags is the navy nautical one (my favorite).  The Aurifil thread packs are getting low and we're going to have to re-order this week.  Thanks again.

Are you a fan of the Olympics?  Will you watch some of it?   All of it?   Comment about that - or anything else and you could win a package of our new thread collection from Aurifil.  Make your comment before Midnight Tuesday the 17th.

Laurie

I do watch a lot more of the summer Olympic events than the winter. I love the equestrian events, the marathon, the triathlon... DH watched *all* of the women's beach volleyball last time! (And I'd love to win that thread! Beautiful!)

Your thread is great!

I like to watch the swimming, and catch other events if I'm around, but I don't specifically stay home to watch it. It's so hot this summer that I may see more of it than usual!

It's practically unAmerican to say I don't watch the Olympics, but I'll risk it for some fancy thread! I'm pretty sure I can make those reds and blues work around these parts. IF I didn't put them in my little shrine to cool people I think are awesome.

I am looking forward to watching it all. Makes me have goosebumps for the mostly young athletes doing their thing!!! My birthday is the day before it starts and I may have to get a little something patriotic to wear for the games!!

I don't have tv, but will regularly check for updates online. I have lots of quilts to bind, so some screen time is in my near future!

Yes, I like to watch the Olympics! But I do not get any tv reception where I am at and am too cheap of pay for cable. (plus it saves $ and I get more done without TV). But the Olypmics!

Love watching the Olympics! And, I love London! I just have to convince my husband to not use the remote so much and flip thru channels! I will have a quilt project in hand as I watch. Really enjoy your blog.

I'm so excited and ready for the Olympics to begin. One of my quilting buddies has a son in the Olympics, a swimmer Eric Shanteau. We also know another swimmer Amanda Weir who swam in High School with my daughter! I have a quilt to hand stitch all ready for London and my TV!

I love the Olympics! It always amazes and thrills me when I see what people have trained their bodies to do. I have such pride in our country's athletes and great respect for all of them.
Oh, and I love everything you do, too!

I'm not a sports-fan at all. We've had the European Championsships Soccer, tennis at Wimbledon and the Tour de France, but I didn't see much of it. But I do like to watch the Olympics, especially the Opening Ceremony.

Buckeye Quilter said...

I love the official poster. I watch most of the events. I think London will do a great job hosting. I always love the opening ceremonies. Columbus and The Ohio State University grad, Katie Bell, will be diving and I will be watching her. I could use the thread:)

I love the Olympics! My husband and were able to watch 3 nights of the Swimming Finals in Omaha, Nebraska. Our daughter lives in Omaha, so we went to visit--almost for the express purpose of watching the swimming. Our kids were "swim team" members while growing up--neither were very competitive, but it gave us a chance to be around the swimming. The finals we watched were great fun--the award ceremonies were lovely and I can only IMAGINE how cool it would be, to watch the actual OLYMPICS! We had the chance to see some of the Olympic team members swim for qualification!! Very fun

We love to watch the Olympics...even the trials. I enjoy the swimming, gymnastics and field events. Of course the opening ceremonies are always much anticipated. I already have a couple of hand projects set and ready to stitch on while watching the events!

Swimming. Maybe diving. Probably anything that looks better than what's scheduled on the telly. I start watching just one event and then sliiiddde into another and another and before you know it, I'm watching the Olympics whenever I can! It goes that way. I'd better treat myself soon and go purchase some thread I need so I'm ready to watch. If it's 92 outside I'll have the AC on and a needle in hand with the Olympics on (Or a Pirates game.) I would really love to win some good thread as it's difficult to buy GOOD thread around this area. Some silk threads fray and un-twist and makes it all perplexing.

I am not normally a big sports fan. But when it comes to the Olympics, I can't get enough of it. It was pretty exciting to have the 2002 Olympics right here in Salt Lake because we were able to get instant coverage and were able to participate in all the other things surrounding an Olympics. My daughter was in the Olympic Band. They led the winning atletes in a bit of a parade each evening to the medals plaza. She was also able to get us in free to the opening ceremonices dress rehearsal (did I say freezing?) It was amazing.

maybe some of the swimming and the equestrian events - any event would be better if I was using some gorgeous Auriil thread while I watched

I an an Olympic junkie and will happily watch ANY sport with needle in hand working on my pile of projects!
ps...love you thread!

I'll watch some of the Olympics here and there, but will not be glued to the TV. There is too much to do around here, including sewing and gardening projects.

The sail boats in the photo are just beautiful, Would love to be out there enjoying that. I will watch some of the swimming in the Olympics. But I will have to have a applique piece going to sit there with.

Ahhh yes, the Olympics... I still have memories of the Olympics here in Utah. Yes, we have decided that it would be fun to view as a family (our kids are all grown up with families of their own (at least some have kids). What's not to like... be patriotic and root for your team. Seams like the "right" thing to do to me!

I'll probably watch some of the Olympics-mainly because there's nothing else on TV in the summer!! Not really! HA Thanks for the giveaway. I LOVE Aurifil!

I'm counting down the days to the Olympics. One of my former students is swimming the breaststroke. Will have to tune-in for his event. I love the stories of people who overcome great odds/events to compete. Go USA!

I am an Olympic-holic...but this year we are moving closer to school (my hubby is an instructor at the college) and we won't have everything hooked up in time to see many of the events. I will miss the swimming!!

I like the winter games more than summer but if my husband has them on I'll get drawn into them. I always do. I've become quite a sports fan that way.
