Teaching an Old Dog

It seems just when I kind of get the hang of things, the rug gets pulled out from under me.  I am writing this blog post in the NEW Blogger format.  Why?  Why, oh why?  C'mon google geniuses - it was okay just the way it was.  That goes for gmail too!  But, enough whining.  I will persevere.

As I anxiously await the new quilts back from the long arm quilter and the new patterns from the printer I am working on a little project for a Schoolhouse for Moda Fabrics.  If you plan on going to International Quilt Market in Kansas City next month - make sure to pencil us in.  We will be there at the Schoolhouse with ALL the Moda designers.  All in one room - together.  Make sure to witness the drama, excitement, and inept public speaking.

I am also going to make this tonight.

 Rhubarb Cake

Photo from Not Without Salt Blog

Believe me - that is not my photo.  Not Without Salt is a great cooking blog - and her pictures as just as yummy as her recipes.

Oh, what else..... I was at Zingerman's this morning shopping and having a cappuccino when I overheard a couple talking.  "Oh, by the way, I have unfriended your Mom on Facebook."  I fear the couple may no longer be a couple much longer as it wasn't received very well.  I guess "I've unfriended your Mom" is the new "It's not you - it's me."

Ta Ta - and know I will NEVER, EVER unfriend your Mom from my Facebook.  Just so you know - I may be the last human on the planet who is not on Facebook.

The "new" blogger isn't too bad. Things are just a bit rearranged.

Darnit. I have new blogger too. Why does everything change? Thankfully my old school blogger template still works, although I am a littel a-scared of the future.

Laurie, I love your comments on life! I hope your rhubarb cake is yummy--mine is just started to poke itself out of the ground--the 6" of snow on Monday probably didn't help it along.

I share your pain with blogger. Grandmother Bessie always said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I will figure it out but. . .

Unfriending Mother on facebook, do I see problems in this relationship?

No Facebook for me. I tried it for about 30 seconds and that was that.

Well, my mom is the ONLY one who talks to me on Facebook..All the others who asked for friendship, I have to wonder what the hell they did it , they NEVER talk to me or answer my posts so I will get off there for sure. Are they there just to snoop ?

Nice to know I'm not the only quilter who doesn't Facebook. Just not enough hours in the day to waste there...lol.

Taking my dad to Zingerman's for his 80th birthday present this summer - he's always wanted to go. We can't wait to go either (we're doing dinner AND breakfast!) Can't wait to see all of the new designs - love your work!

Hi Laurie,
I am wondering how I could get the pattern for the quilt that is posted with your baby pictures on your profile. I have seen it in the past, but never have seen a pattern. I love your fabric and books and quilts, but somehow missed that one. Is it still available? It is the red stars with the nine patch borders. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Carol Nichols

Carol,

That pattern is a quilt pattern that was inspired by one of Polly's rugs. It came out with our first fabric collection - Nantucket - and that is the name of the pattern. The bad news..... this was before we published our own patterns and only published books. Moda Fabrics commissioned a pattern designer to publish this pattern to coincide with the fabric release. The pattern is now out of print. Try searching for it on Ebay. Sorry.

Thank you for the speedy reply!
I will look for it. I do like it and I can probably do it myself. It is just easier when someone else has already done the math!

Carol
PS Your rhubarb must be far ahead of ours. Mine is about 2 inches tall. I thought it was dead, but it came up, so that is good!

Ad me to that... I don't "Facebook" either... LoL... how have we ever survived?.... Our kids think it's crazy that I won't join up! Such is life; guess it's just that I'm living it instead of reading about it, on someone's Facebook page! Oh, and our now x-son-in-law un-friended our entire family, now he misses everyone from what I hear! So sad!
How was the cake? Us seamstress's and quilters... always into the good eating stuff! LoL... hope it was good! Jean C.

Where were you when I needed you!? I'm "on" Facebook but I don't "do" Facebook.. That's because I was hopelessly clueless about the etiquette regarding a request from a real-life friend to "join". Life was so much easier before computers... well, all except for that shopping thing. Not having to leave the house to buy fabric is sort of nice. :)

No facebbook either, and additionally am I the only one that cannot type the two words...at least 1 or 2 letters could be several choices...

Oh me, I think we are all lamenting the new blogger. I had to go back to the old interface because I can not figure out how to get pictures from my computer library :-( And you are not the only one NOT on facebook. My kids are on it, but not me ;-D
