Summer At The Lake Quilts!

Our friends Susan and Sally of Maw Bell Designs have a new book out. It's wonderful and I'm going to tell you why :)

Susan and Sally have been making great quilts for awhile and this new publication is their latest. It's filled with fun, summery projects and isn't that nice right about now. The quilt on the cover is my favorite - Alpine Lake Quilt. It's a different take on nine patch blocks. We at Minick and Simpson love blue and white, but I can see this quilt in lots of different color combinations. The Meadowsweet Basket Quilt uses my favorites shades of red/orange with just a touch of aqua.
There are more bed size quilts and lots of smaller projects too - like this sweet back pack.
The projects are tempting, but the book is lovely to look at. The photography is outstanding and the Montana scenery is inspiring. Susan and Sally have taken their childhood memories of family outings at their cabin in Idaho as the starting point of their projects. That makes perfect sense to me - as it is how Polly and I go about creating projects. We start to talk and reminisce and one thing leads to another and the ideas just keep coming. Brava, ladies!

Make sure to stop over to Susan and Sally's blog for a give-away for this book. Tell them we sent you. Plan your next picnic and make sure to invite all your friends!

Sorry, I had my hands on the wrong keys with my first post, or at least I thought I did...long story, anyway, let's try this again, LOL.
I'm headed over to put in on the giveaway now, just had to ask, who made the adorable little guy at the end of this post? He is just too cute for words. Big Hugs...
Thanks for the heads up on this great giveaway.

Being a military mom, I just love the title of the book and the meaning behind it. Just before he shipped out to fight in the Pacific during WWII my mother-in law met my father-in law. She was just 17 at the time and he was 7 years older. As a lot of people did back then she wrote him ,as well as other soldiers, to keep his spirits up. He's the only one she kept writing to. When he got home he wrote her, "I have a question to ask you." "YES!, she replied." I'm married to their son who served in the army and the mother of their grandson who serves as an officer in the U.S. Navy.. So I guess my mother-in-law as well as my mom (Dad served in Europe) and even myself since son has been to Afghanistan are all proudly Victory Girls!

Thank you for all you do for our military and continueing to instil patriotic pride in us all through your fabrics and patterns.
