Gibby had a little mishap yesterday. We were at the dog park, his most favorite place in the whole wide world, running and playing with the other dogs when I noticed a cut on his hip. In the over-zealousness of the place, it seemed he got nipped. Gibby didn't want to leave, but I hustled him out of there. Now he has a couple of staples (Yes! REAL staples!) in his hip, a run of antibiotics, and a cone head.
Bill did a little surgery on the cone head to make it more maneuverable, and then, in the way that men do, fixed the edges with duct tape. Saddest dog in the whole wide world.
It will be 10-14 days before he can go back to the dog park and maybe that long with the cone. My day will be spent trying to make the saddest dog in the whole wide world a little happier.

Oh that is the saddest face. I do hope that Gibby mends fast. Keep us posted on him.
Oh, poor, poor Gibby! What a pathetic boy! I hope he heals quickly and is happy again soon!
Awwwww....poor puppy!
Oh no! Poor Gibby! All the cats of Maple Hoo are sending him their best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Awww... what a sad cone head. Hope you heal quickly Gibby.
The Coneheads on SNL never looked as sad as poor Gibby.
Do you think dogs go in the bathroom and practice that face in the mirror? Or do those cones come with instructions on how to get just the right amount of "poor pitiful me" in their expressions?
Whatever you do, try not to laugh when he bumps that cone into things. I think it encourages them to do it again. :)
Well wishes are sent Gibby's way....and prayers for patience for you. My baby had to have that collar...I thought it would drive me crazy (watching her in it) before it did my pup :)
Poor baby! :( I hope he mends fast so that he'll be back to his happy self!

Isn't it amazing how expressive dog eyes can be? Hopefully, they will be happy eyes real soon!
At least its not winter. My dog Rufus had a cone in winter and kept scooping up snow.
Oh my! The cone of shame! Poor doggie!

that looks just breaks my heart!! toys & treats, treats & toys..then hugs &belly rubs, rubs &hugs make Gibby forget that thing ever existed....and also stop laughing at him..LOL..just precious
Oh gosh, poor thing. One of my early encounters with my boyfriend-turned -hubby's family was when their dog, Tyger had a similar cone on his head after ear surgery. He managed to get it off and we spent the evening chasing him, trying to tape sanitary pads with duct tape on his wound. But I still married into the family LOL. Hope Gibby is better soon.
oh poor Gibby, all the attention will make him happy I bet!
good luck

Oh - boo hoo sad puppy. Maybe you could put on Beverly Hills Chihuahua for him, or Marmaduke. Give him a bowl of Milk Bones to snack on. That may perk him right up!
Poor Gibby. I could never take mine, he is too aggressive with other dogs, so we walk by ourselves. Mine hates collars and won't sit still, so makes it tough, I can imagine Gibby is the same way.

The truly funny thing is when the dog goes into a room, and somehow bumps the door closed, and then gets stuck because he cannot "nose through" the door anymore.
I have some funny pictures of my dog pouting in the corner with his depressed cone up against the wall.
Oh, poor puppy! That is the saddest face!
That is such a sad, but funny picture...poor Gibby! He really does look like the saddest dog in the world :(
Murphy (my mini schnauzer) and I hope Gibby feels better soon. He's probably happy that you are home from MI.
Poor little punkin! Sometimes having fun is hazardous.
Bless his heart. He looks miserable. Here's hoping for a very quick healing for that baby!
Oh he looks so sad, big scratch behind the ears from down under. Hope he heals clean and quick...

Oh, what a sad face. It will be fourteen long days. Take care, Gibby!
Oh! Poor Baby!! I wish I coud kiss him better - such a sweet face even if he is sad.
when my dog has his cone on it is hell for days. I have a bischon. My dog who is a boy acts like a totally bitch, he gets mad & he will not eat his breakfast or dinner. you give him a cookie & he will not eat it.
hope your dog gets better soon.
Poor, Gibby. Perhaps an extra doggie treat will help.
Poor Gibby...my friend bought an inflatable neck ring for her injured dog (it looked a little like the rings toddlers use in the baths) and he was much better with that as he couldn't reach his wound but could get through the door and didn't leave a bruise every time he brushed past her leg! I hope he recovers soon and isn't put off playing.
Poor Gibby. Bully and Spike and the cats send their wishes for a quick recovery.
Oh no! The cone of shame! For sure says you can't leave your owie alone. Perhaps he'd like to collect signatures on the cone, or stickers, or..............Something to show off to the other dogs when he's better.
poor Gibby - not the cone of shame!
What a boo-boo face! Wilbur, our pit bull got his ear nipped at day care this past Sunday and it wouldn't stop bleeding so we too ended up at the vet's. Luckily he's leaving his ear pretty much alone and doesn't have to wear a 'cone of shame'. I bet Gibby can't wait to get back to the park.
cone head doggies are a riot.. and get into the most trouble! missed you at market.. hugs!
Poor Gibby...............or should I say poor you!!!!!! The next 10 days will NOT be fun. I did find that rolling a tennis ball right up to the cone did at least allow for some sort of play.

He sure does have a sad face! Is it better to have a cone face, than a cone head? He could have been a gnome!! You could cover it in fabric!! Sending puppy kisses from Sunny Boy -
