Walking the dog in the morning used to be a nice break. An exercise, quite literally, in nature and meditation. Not any more. Gibby has a new hobby. He dances.
(photo taken this morning of foolish dog by p.o.ed owner)
Not once, not twice, but literally dozens of times during the walk, he grabs the leash in his mouth (the above time so strongly that he took it out of my hands) and dances with unabashed joy. It was funny the first time, even the second time, but now.......we are consulting with smarter people to break him of this habit. I'm sure the neighbors enjoy it. There is probably even a telephone chain to warn people of his approach. "Yes, they are rounding the corner. He's dancing and she is not looking very happy." Sigh.

Or maybe this....
Oy!

we should all have such joy!
This post really tickled me this morning! Someone has gotten Spring fever! You so funny!
4 words---weave posts, agility training! i bet he'll love it.
oh - my dog did that for a while so I took away the slack in the leash.
He's happy! He's out... the sun is shining... the flowers are blooming... he's with "mom"... he's got your attention... of course the boy is dancing!
Thank you for the chuckles. (Including the one with that other Carrie... why does it always make me laugh that that merengue dog is named Carrie?)
Pure unadulterated joy!! Your dog has brought a smile to my face this morning. :) I would love to see a video of your dog dancing!!
It must be spring, and he is loving getting out and running around, lol. Mine always get excited when he gets outside.
Debbie
You must get a video of Gibby doing this!!!
Yes, Erin is right - we NEED a video before you break him of this habit. Thanks.
Very funny!! Now...what would the Cesar Milan the Dog Whisperer do?

I think he's been watching a little too much Ellen DeGeneres!
I can imagine its very frustrating for you, but it sounds pretty darn adorable. My dog does what I call the crazy happy dance - she spins and spins and spins until you are dizzy, but she's fine. Its usually when the weather gets cool in the fall - she likes it about 55 outside. Silly pooches. Who ever suggested agility training had a great idea!
LOL Great laugh you provided to me! Thank you.

He is awfully cute - what a sweetie pie! He must be so full of joy to be dancing around like that. What a crack-up!
Cesar Milan would have him on 45 min walks at least once a day if not twice to burn off that energy. What a great episode to see you all on TV!
UH OH its time for Cesar , you know what he says , it always comes back to the owners behavior not your dog LOL
Laurie,
There is a 'name' for this...........March Madness! Seems to be pretty common with many dogs. Echo has about two weeks of it every spring, than all returns to normal.

Penny says Gibby gets that from her side of the family! :)
My Shar Pei have all done the dancing thing at some point in their lives. Currently Phoebe does it at times of extreme excitement when any friend arrives to visit. It's such a joy to see such a happy dog. Go with the flow!
