I don't know what it is with his obsession with squirrels. I am hoping he kind of outgrows it.This is Gibby helping me take a picture of my obsession the last couple of days.

Well, we had 3 winners of that contest a few days ago and I sent out 3 large boxes of scraps. I also sent out a few more to some bloggy friends. I barely made a dent in it. Gibby is so cute! I have two shepherd brothers that turned one a few months ago, I don't know what we were thinking getting two but that's besides the point! One of my pups loves birds! I think he must have been a bird dog in a former life. He will even chase planes across the field when they are low enough in their flight patterns, he looks like a cross between a gazel and a rabbit, it's a quit a scene! enjoy, wendy

When I take my 3 dogs for their walk every day they have to check their 'pee mail' and do squirrel patrol.
At home they sit at the window and watch the squirrels running amok in the yard. We call it 'squirrel TV'.

Oh, Gibby is not alone in his squirrel fixation. We had a hyper dog who would sit transfixed at the base of the big backyard tree waiting for the glimpse of a fuzzy tail. We called it "squirrel TV."

Luckily, he's a slow ridgeback, so I don't think he'll ever catch one, but the squirrels love to taunt him all year long (usually from a distance in our backyard pine tree!!)

Gibby shares an "almost birthday" with my son is close to one year from a bone marrow transplant. In addition to his brother who was the donor, it was his dogs smothering him with love and warmth through a long, long winter that got him to this birthday. Dogs really are man's best friend, and in this case they are a mom's best friend as well. Thanks to Gibby and all the loving dogs in the world for all they give us.

Did you know that chipmunks and wild turkeys sound just like squirrels creeping up on you? Most of the squirrels have been scared off, but our collie is still fooled every @@#$%^#@ time. Rabbits, coyotes, and even crows, deer and bear have a certain squirrelishness to them as well. But squirrels are the worst! They drive us crazy!
What a cute pup! Our's is now 2 & a half and finally out of the chewing everything in sight phase.

Shar Pei are renowned for their ability to chase as they were bred to hunt boar in China so this is his Pei side coming out! They were also used as farm dogs so some do rats and rabbits as well.
I know because I have had six and the current one who is 6 has an obsession with squirrels and cats. Not to harm but to play with!
