Our Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!

Have you been to our friends blog here, or here?? Me and My Sister, and Bunny Hill, and Minick and Simpson all wish you a very happy Valentine's day to you and your special loved ones.
Gibby is our Valentine. A true symbol of unconditional love - our pets. I told Bill I needed a photo of Gibby for the blog and this is what he came up with. Not bad. Oh, the ear??..... While Gibby was under last week (neutered) the vet stitched up a little spot on his ear. It looks much worse than it is. It's healing great. I believe the deal was that we were to dress up Bella, Chelsea, and Gibby for Valentine's Day, but we thought Gibby has already been through enough lately :) This is as dressed up as he gets.

In honor of our beloved pets we are having another giveaway. (Me and My Sister and Bunny Hill are having give-aways too!) I am not forgetting Lizzie or Roscoe, but cats do not like to be on blogs. They have expressed this to me vehemently. So, make a comment about your Valentine by Wednesday the 17th and you could win this sweetheart giveaway - A sweet little handmade heart-in-hand box for your treasures. And this......
A Bar Harbor Charm Pack.

*The cupcakes were made by Polly for her sweetheart.

Which leaves me with this thought - Why do people with dogs have white sofa's? (I'm talking to you Carrie, and you Polly, and of course me) I guess it just gives us a chance to use our quilts, doesn't it. Either that, or we are just gluttons for punishment.

Yummy cupcakes and I'm the first one to comment. That never happens! I would so love to win some Bar Harbor fabric - love the colors and pattern! My hubby and I are going to a movie and dinner on Valentines day and then one of our granddaughters is coming over to stay the night and go to the aquarium the next day. Should be loads of fun!
Happy Valentines Day to you!!

My valentine is my hubby of 16 years. After a 14 1/2 year abusive 1st marriage and 8 years of being a divorced single mom, I met my valentine. My life has been completely transformed by my marriage to this man. I'm not saying we have it easy or things are all sunshine, but to have someone share your life and do so lovingly and kindly is a rich blessing.

My Valentine is my husband. He is starting to call himself Mr. Second Chance, since he survived a serious car accident two weeks ago with only broken ribs and a broken shoulder blade. I'm grateful and thankful to have him more or less perfectly intact...since his accident, someone has actually been killed on that same stretch of road.

Gibby is such a cutie and wears his bandage with great panache. My Valentine brought me bagels and hot chocolate for breakfast. After recently digging out from 50+ inches of snow that fell in less than a week, there hasn't been much time for elaborate holiday preparations so this impromptu breakfast was quite the treat.

My valentine writes a poem for me each year. To show you romance is not dead (murdered maybe but not dead), here are four lines..

As history shows, that with the passing days, my love grows

But as a lead-in line, it really blows!

I mean major chucks, the serious kind.

The kind a three day rages leaves behind.

Ah, be still my heart.

I have the cutest black labradoodle named Lucy. She always buys me a card for the holidays. She's the best little shopper(along with the hubby). The cutest card ever was the one for my birthday. On the cover it said, "I wouldn't call you old" , and on the inside it said, "but you've been around the block a few times."
I laughed so much with that card. Dogs always seem to know when you don't feel good or when you need a kiss. I wouldn't want to be without one. I have spent the whole day with my three valentines, my wonderful hubby, Larry, and two Burmese cats, Tut and Cleo.

We have been watching the figure skating pairs competition from Vancouver. I have been thinking that the first figure skating competition that I ever watched was of the 1960 Olympics when Mom, my sister and I started our love affair with the Ladies Competition, starting with Carol Heiss. As I recall, they skated outdoors then, didn't they?

I'm not sure which came first, Ladies Figure Skating or the Lawrence Welk show. Anyway many happy memories shared.

My Valentine is my wonderful husband, we are 2-1/2 year newlywed's. Although, it depends on who you ask.....Spanky,our boxer, would insist that he is my valentine! (and if I dress him up, he suddenly decides his legs don't work and he can't walk.) lol!

Gibby is so sweet, with his bandaged ear! Our kitty, Pumpkin, has just healed after 5 months with a cast on his broken front arm. Happy cat now, jumping all over and playing with catnip toys! He's one kitty who might enjoy being in a blog, but I agree, most cats are way TOO private! Love that Bar Harbor fabric, reminds me of the lighthouse there and my New England grandkids, whom I miss a lot! Thank you.

My valentine is my husband of almost 37 years. He gave me a heart shaped ruby and white sapphire ring for Christmas so I didn't need anything new at Valentine's.

Gibby does look like he wants a little extra tender loving care.

My husband is me Valentine. He made a yummy heart-shaped pizza for dinner and watched my favorite chick flick without complaint.

Our sofa is navy blue and we have a yellow tabby cat and white long-haired cat. At least there are no muddy paw prints as they are pampered indoor kitties.

That's funny about the couches being white. I have a white one also, and 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 kids. My Valentine would have to be my husband. He is a wonderful and kind man, considering I usually spend all my "free" time sewing and stitching quilts to cover up my white couch. Thanks for the contest and Happy Belated Valentines Day!

My husband is my Valentine and then closely followed by all our boys and our adorable Granddaughter who is only 2 1/2 yrs old. He had this past Friday off work and had the pleasure (NOT) of taking me to my hand surgeons office where he got to watch them remove stitches from my hand; both the palm/wrist and thumb too. Gosh what a fun start to our romantic weekend. LOL
When we left there it was off to Hancock Fabrics to stock up on patterns for the big sale. Then he drove and was sitting in a turn lane leading to another shopping area when I asked where we were going. It was too early for Hooters and IHOP had a jam packed parking lot, we didn't need anything from Home Depot and I was under the thinking we really did not have much money. Then, he turned into Best Buy and said I was not allowed to sit in the van. So off we went, hand still throbbing and sad old knees of mine both screaming to wander through the store. He then surprised me and bought the ABBA Gold CD I'd been wanting for a few years and then kept wandering around. He finally wandered around the store stopping in the tv section. Hmmmm I wonder why he's even looking at them and then he asked which I liked. THEN it hit me, February is when his bonus comes in and he bought me a wonderful 32" LCD/HD TV to replace my very old tv which is in my sewing room. YAY! He did very good. I think I'll keep him.

My Valentine hubby didn't even know he was supposed to get me some flowers or candy but fabric would be
as good. Oh well, he did wash all the windows.
Obviously we are not in the

Well we don't celebrate Valentines day, as our wedding anniversary is on the 17th Feb. We meet at high school when I was 14, so my darling husband has been my Valentine since I was very young. So on the 17th I will give him flowers & heart shaped chocolates, then we will drive 1 hour to visit my dear MIL as it is her birthday the same day. from Jenny McH

Gibby is tooo adorable. I Looove the Quilt, a raspberry color, yummy. My beloved brought me home a single rose & 2 movies to stay up & watch, so we huddled up with a quilt on the love seat sofa recliner while my bunny chocolate chip sprawled out under neath & our pup sleeping on a beanbag nearby son eating pop corn on a sofa across the room until they got tired of us..luckily as soon as the popcorn ran out. My hubby and I spent a lovely day in our relatively new home. We have a new TV in the family room which is really the lower level (aka basement) so we cuddled on the couch and watched some movies. Spaghetti and meat sauce and salad for dinner - perfect!! I'd love to win some gifties from you to help me remember this lovely weekend. Thanks.

My Valentine is my husband of almost 29 years. This year I decided to make the very same recipe for cheesecake that I used to "win" his heart when we were just dating. I had saved the 1980 issue of the magazine it was printed in. The styles and the price of the mag have certainly changed but the cheesecake? As good as I remember!!!

I hopped over (pun intended) from BunnyHill... had to check out the sweet Valentine friends. Your 4 legged friend is patient also... after checking out Cheleas and Bella... and now Gibby... I'm thinking that maybe Gibby is the most patient... (sorry Bella and Cheleas) what can I say... I also have a larger 4 legged friend... Jamie... she is a golden retriever, and one of the most patient of friends ever. When the grand kids come over and she lays down and lets them crawl all over and pet her and hug her... I would say that she is one of the sweetest Valentines we have. Although, my dear hubby has been my Sweet Valentine for 34 years now and I must give credit where credit is due! I was sick on Valentines day and he took such sweet care of me... all weekend long. He had had plans to take me out to dinner and a show but I buggered that up. Next weekend we will have to catch up on those plans. The weekend b/4 was our 34the anniversary... so it has been a wonderful couple of weeks. We raised 4 wonderful children and now since all of them are married and we have 3 "grands". Life is Good! Hope that your Valentines Day was a happy one and that Gibby is doing better!

My valentines are my English Bulldogs; Murphy,Zoey and Sydney. They want to say get well to Gibby. Murphy says hey send that pink quilt over here; he LOVES pink! He does have a pink binkie; but he says that quilt is the bomb; the girls agree! The girls say you are so handsome in the natural Gibby that if you dressed up you would make them reall swoon! They say you are just too cute:) Love from all the bullies and me too!

Our local newspaper had a column recalling the tissue covered box that sat on the teacher's desk --- we put our Valentines in it. On Valentine's Day, the teacher read the names and delivered the cards --- much different from the way it is done today.

Our Valentine's Day was spent cooking and serving a fund raiser steak dinner for 150 people. My DH told me to have a bag packed, be ready to go and we left shortly after the last dish was washed. DH wisked me to a quiet room in a hotel about an hour away. We watched a movie, ate our snacks and lites out! We were way too tired for any thing else. We ate breakfast and slowly drove back home. It was great to get away!
What a sweetie!

Poor Gibby. I'm glad you didn't make him suffer by dressing him up. A dog has to be able to show his face around town and blogland - a bit of dignity is required!
